Bio

Mamoona graduated from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, in 2021 with a Bachelor in Public Administration. Growing up, she witnessed the adverse effects of prevailing business practices on Pakistan's textile waste crisis. This experience motivated her to explore Pakistan’s regulatory environment, which played a significant role in shaping the country's sustainability practices. Delving into policy reforms, she uncovered the intricate links between institutional deficiencies and corporate negligence in sustainability practices and reporting. It was during this exploration that she developed a keen interest in integrating policy frameworks with corporate sustainability initiatives, aiming to foster comprehensive environmental stewardship and social responsibility within businesses.

Throughout her academic journey, she pursued courses like Environmental Geography, enriching her understanding of human-environment relationships, statistical analysis, and GIS. Similarly, courses such as Issues in Natural Resource and Environmental Policy and Politics provided her with insights into the complex interplay of political, economic, and social factors influencing environmental policymaking in the public and private space. During her final year, Mamoona also launched a startup aimed at empowering women to buy and sell second-hand clothing. This initiative addresses the barriers women often face in accessing affordable and sustainable fashion options, while also providing opportunities for economic empowerment. This sparked her interest in working with startups, particularly those focused on sustainability, as she recognized their potential to drive positive social and environmental change.

After graduating, Mamoona embarked on a nearly 3-year tenure as a Supply Chain Systems and Product Manager at Alibaba Group. In this role, she worked towards optimizing existing products and creating new ones tailored to the markets of Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Pakistan. Her efforts focused on enhancing efficiency by streamlining logistics, reducing operational costs, and improving inventory management. Additionally, she integrated environmental considerations into business practices, implementing eco-friendly initiatives that minimized waste and reduced the carbon footprint of the supply chain. Through her work, Mamoona contributed to the company's sustainability goals while boosting overall operational performance in these regions.

On a personal note, Mamoona has a passion for traveling, fitness, and singing. She is a competitive volleyball player, having earned two sports scholarships during university. Additionally, she is a fitness trainer and runs a blog focused on fitness and fashion.
