Bio
Nairika Behboodi’s diverse background has broadened her ability to identify the elements that lead to a more sustainable life. She graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Her background in Psychology has allowed her to provide unique perspectives in understanding, analyzing, and influencing consumer behaviour. After completing her bachelor’s degree, she pursued a certification in Big Data Analytics at York University. Her data analytics training has helped her develop the analytical skills to research hypotheses and drive solutions supported by data. During her final year at the University of Guelph, she took a Corporate Social Responsibility course, which fueled her desire to pursue a career as a sustainability consultant.
Her last job was as a Marketing Analyst for one of the largest retail companies in Canada –Canadian Tire. This experience has helped her build the skills needed to run a successful business on a larger scale. Nairika is pursuing a career that allows her to create the change she wants to see in the world. Growing up, she has always enjoyed learning about innovation and entrepreneurs. Her experience working for Mother Erth – a startup company that creates handbags from intercepted plastic waste – showed her the ways innovation can be used to address social and environmental issues. She believes that the critical changes needed to address critical issues faced, such as climate change, can be achieved by the very products and services offered by corporations through operational choices that promote sustainable and circular practices.
She has found ways to combine her passion for sustainability with her creative side to create sustainable fashion by repurposing discarded items in her spare time. She is working to apply the knowledge she gains through her work and educational experiences to promote a sustainable lifestyle in every aspect of her life. She is confident that anything is possible with persistence, passion, and determination. She plans to work hard to achieve the changes she believes are necessary to create a sustainable world for this generation and those to come.
