Bio

Aiden graduated from the University of Toronto in 2024 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts with high distinction, majoring in Environmental and Human Geography, with a Minor in Environmental Studies, a Focus in Urban Planning, and a Certificate in Sustainability Pathways. Throughout their academic journey, Aiden built a strong foundation in environmental concepts, culminating in an undergraduate thesis on the impact of impervious surfaces on fluvial geomorphology in the Don River. However, their environmental focus was constantly intersected by social and governance factors that influence environmental outcomes, frequently discussed in the context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) covered in class. This integration of environmental, social, and governance aspects in leading climate action piqued Aiden's interest, revealing the broader picture of sustainability. This led to an opportunity to conduct extensive research on sustainable green infrastructure as a Research Assistant. Through this role, Aiden was exposed to the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and governance aspects of climate action, identifying their interest in how businesses integrate sustainability considerations.

Following the completion of their undergraduate degree, Aiden advanced their professional career as an ESG Strategy Intern at Kinross Gold Corporation, where they focused on enhancing the company's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. In this role, Aiden developed and pitched strategies to senior leadership that were approved for multi-year plans to improve ESG rating scores. They authored the introduction to the 2023 climate report, including the CEO statement, and developed Kinross's first supplier engagement statement addressing scope 3 emissions. Aiden established the baseline assessment range used in climate modeling for all operating sites to evaluate future climate risks and opportunities, guiding investment initiatives. They also led a team in a corporate development M&A pitch to secure Kinross’s 2.0Moz production target through 2030. Aiden also spearheaded the implementation of a supply chain engagement strategy at Alaska's Fort Knox Mine to eliminate plastics from the supply chain, which is set to reduce over 3,000 tonnes of plastic from the supply chain at this site.

In addition to their professional endeavors, Aiden is a Team Canada track and field athlete, specializing in high jump. Their athletic career is highlighted by participation in the World Junior Championship Final in Kenya, silver medals at the NACAC Championships in Mexico and the 2024 Canadian Olympic Trials. Aiden's dedication to sport and development of leadership qualities has gained significant recognition, receiving the President’s Silver-T Award recognizing the university's highest level athletic, academic and leadership attributes in varsity sport, and being named the University of Toronto Team Captain for the past 2 years. Outside of their professional and athletic pursuits, Aiden enjoys spending time outdoors, engaging in activities such as biking, hiking, and exploring Toronto with friends.

Aiden's interdisciplinary perspective, leadership skills, and passion for sustainable business make them a valuable asset in the pursuit of a sustainable future. They are excited to further this mission through the Master of Science in Sustainability Management program, where they aim to deepen their knowledge and continue making a tangible impact through the intersection of environmental and business practices.
