Bio
Nicole’s interest in sustainability began at a young age through spending time in nature and continued to grow as she noticed the detrimental impacts humans were having on the natural environment. This passion for the environment resulted in Nicole studying and graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Environmental Studies with the Management Option. Nicole has a strong interest in corporate sustainability and how business can reduce their environmental impact.
Over the course of her undergraduate degree, Nicole worked for the Township of Seguin as a Water Quality Specialist and Environmental Steward. In this role, she conducted spring and summer water testing on over 120 lakes in the area to monitor safety of the lakes as well as the health of the ecosystem. In addition, she organized an annual 4-part speaker series focused on a variety of different local environmental issues and personally delivered a presentation on single-use plastic substitutes to an audience of over 50 people.
Upon graduating she began working at Earth Rangers as a Program Coordinator. Earth Rangers is a non-profit organization which works to inspire the next generation of conservationists. In this role she led the recruitment, engagement and marketing communications for the School Assembly Program for the over 1,000 elementary schools in British Columbia. At the beginning of COVID when schools were closed, she led and implemented an outbound communications plan to drive conversion from the website to the new app, reaching over 6,000 members. Additionally, with a strong passion for inclusion in the work place, Nicole served as the Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee with a focus on expanding the diversity and accessibility of the organization.
In her spare time, Nicole enjoys being active and spending time outside doing anything from paddle boarding to snowboarding. She loves spending time with family and friends, cooking, baking, and travelling. In addition, she is extremely passionate about learning about and advocating for social justice.
