Bio
Emilia Dunkerley graduated from McGill University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a double minor in Sociology and Political Science. During her degree Emilia focused her studies on the intersection of different disciplines and found that issues of sustainability were frequently omitted despite their importance. This gap in attention alongside experiencing the impact of climate change first hand has driven Emilia to pursue a career which will make a difference.
This motivation was further developed during Emilia’s time at Mazars LLP while qualifying as a chartered accountant. For 3 years Emilia worked on statutory audits for a number of companies ranging in size, industry and structure; in which sustainability reporting played a very minimal role - if any at all. Emilia found this lack of meaningful reporting standards surprising given the emphasis often placed by companies around their ESG policies and reputation. As a result after qualifying Emilia decided to pursue this course in order to further develop the skills and knowledge required to promote a sustainable future.
From Emilia’s work and volunteering experience she has developed effective communication, leadership and time management skills. Further, experience at Morgan Stanley and Likewise developed Emilia’s ability to perform data analysis, risk identification, and process mapping which are key skills required when approaching complex sustainability issues . Emilia is particularly interested in corporate sustainability, policy-making and impact investing.
During her free time Emilia loves staying active and spending time in nature, which has resulted in her trying, but never mastering, a number of different sports and hobbies. Emilia also enjoys volunteering with local community organizations especially those which involve teaching children.
