Bio

Liza Nasir holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, with a focus on Biology for Health Sciences, Anthropology, and Biomedical Communications. Her academic background has fostered a strong interest in sustainability and healthcare, particularly in how interdisciplinary approaches can create more sustainable and accessible solutions.

Liza has a rich background in promoting sustainability and accessibility through her professional and volunteer experiences. At the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care, she led research initiatives regarding funding for battery-powered micro-mobility projects across Canadian provinces and territories. Liza’s passion for accessibility initiatives is highlighted in her role as Research Assistant at the University of Toronto, where she reviewed and documented the BIO342 syllabus to implement accessible and sustainable resources. She assembled free course content as a replacement for the textbook, prepared a glossary of the key terms per chapter, and provided summaries of the chapters as well, contributing to a more inclusive educational environment.  Liza's previous roles, including Program Assistant and Events Lead at the University of Toronto Mississauga, involved promoting physical and mental well-being through initiatives like UTM Walks, demonstrating her commitment to health and appreciation for nature.

Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, Liza enjoys exploring the great outdoors through hiking. She is an avid reader, enjoys cooking, and has a deep appreciation for history and culture. These interests enrich her perspective and inspire her ongoing commitment to creating positive change in her community.
