Bio

Hannah graduated from the University of Guelph in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in zoology and a minor in ecology. During her undergraduate studies, she completed independent research projects in both plant and animal ecology, including studies on lichen abundance in Ontario deciduous forests and on climatic determinants of alpine treeline location.

As an undergraduate student, Hannah spent her summers working as a research assistant in an entomology lab at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, where she researched insect pests of fruit crops in the Niagara Region and sustainable pest control.

During this time, Hannah was also the President of My World, My Choice Ontario, an environmental mentorship program housed under the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics at the University of Guelph. Through this volunteer work, she taught elementary school students about environmental science and helped them to develop their own sustainability initiatives. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hannah successfully led a transition from the group’s typical programming to launch a nationwide virtual contest for high school and post-secondary students called Canada’s Next Top Sustainability Leader.

These research and volunteer experiences deepened Hannah’s passion for scientific research and sparked her interest in applying science in business contexts, leading to her interest in the MScSM program.

Through her time as an MScSM student, Hannah has expanded her understanding of management and finance concepts, while continuing to build upon her scientific knowledge base. Most recently, Hannah completed a summer internship in impact investing at Rally Assets, where she conducted private investment research. Currently, Hannah is working on her MScSM research project which focuses on financing mechanisms for energy efficiency retrofit projects, and is also writing a paper on barriers to energy efficiency retrofits in collaboration with Professor Laura Tozer. Hannah is also a School of Cities Graduate Fellow for the 2022-23 academic year and is supervising an undergraduate multidisciplinary capstone project focused on urban studies and climate action.

During her free time, Hannah enjoys spending time outdoors, practicing yoga, and reading.
