Bio
Borys graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics & Management Science, minoring in Information Technology Management. During his undergraduate degree, his first introduction to sustainability was through an elective course called Economics of Natural Resources. This course gave him a deeper appreciation for the environment and for living a lifestyle focusing on sustainable practices.
Post-graduation, Borys worked at a local credit union before moving on to a role as a Banking Advisor at RBC. A highly motivated, driven and detail-oriented individual, Borys seamlessly grew into the role of Advisor, gaining valuable knowledge of the personal/commercial banking industry while strengthening his interpersonal and communication skills. It was around this time when Borys realized the importance of sustainable finance, specifically budgeting and the introduction of the term ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) in investing principles. After several years in the industry, he realized the importance of fusing his existing knowledge with his passion for sustainability which led him to the MScSM program, in hopes of expanding his business acumen through a lens of sustainability. During this process of discovery, Borys began volunteering as a 3R Ambassador for the City of Toronto’s 3R Ambassador program which is designed not only to help the City reach its waste diversion target of 70 percent, but also educate the public on the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).
Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Borys enjoys spending time cycling along the Waterfront Trail and exploring the vibrant, diverse cultures the city has to offer. Specific to cycling, Borys recently participated and successfully completed the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer, a two-day 200+ KM ride.
