Bio
Amanda Tejada holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering from the University of Toronto. She has consistently demonstrated academic excellence, earning a place on the Dean’s Honour List in 2020 and 2021. Her academic interests focus on sustainable engineering practices, including courses such as Sustainable Energy Systems, Energy & Climate Policy, and Environmental Risk & Assessment. Amanda is particularly interested in the integration of policy and engineering to drive sustainable development.
Amanda’s professional experience includes working as a Project Manager and Environmental Scientist at AiMS Environmental, where she coordinated and executed projects within budget and on schedule, assisted in problem-solving, and utilized project management software to enhance team efficiency and project visibility. She conducted numerous Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, groundwater monitoring programs, and remedial programs. Amanda's analytical skills were further enhanced through her role as a Data Analyst at ERIS Environmental Risk Information Services, where she used SQL and Oracle Database to streamline data processes and ensure accurate reporting.
During her undergraduate studies, Amanda participated in various projects, including the Infrastructure for Sustainable Cities Design Course project for Edmonton, Alberta, and the Water Infrastructure Design Capstone Project for the Region of Waterloo. She also served as a member of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Working Group with the Engineering Student Societies' Council of Ontario, where she contributed to policy recommendations and data analysis.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys exploring nature, camping, and hiking. She is passionate about environmental conservation and growing food. Amanda is also an avid reader and enjoys learning about new advancements in sustainability and environmental science. Additionally, she has a keen interest in data science and its applications in environmental policy and sustainability.
