Bio
Leaticia holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta where she completed her double major in Business Economics and Law, and Marketing in 2010. After providing her business development expertise to an educational technology startup for a few years, she decided to boost her skillset by pursuing graphic design at the George Brown College School of Design. She has been working as the Marketing and Engagement Lead at an employee wellbeing company since graduating in 2016.
Through her post-secondary education, Leaticia gained the entrepreneurial and design acumen to start a product and apparel business that caters to people with Afro-textured hair. She recognized major gaps in the market that particularly left women of colour underserved, and decided to create innovative products that solved these problems while empowering women to wear their natural hair proudly. Leaticia officially launched her business in 2018 and reached profitability a mere 18 months later. Her desire to run her company in an environmentally friendly way catalyzed her interest in sustainable business practices, which ultimately led her to apply to the MScSM program. She is primarily interested in learning how organizations can incorporate more sustainable practices into their supply chain management, and what governments can do to accelerate corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Some of Leaticia’s favourite activities include snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains, playing piano, and experiencing different cultures through international travel. She also loves playing beach volleyball, writing, video games, and backcountry camping.
