Bio

Alexis graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biology, specializing in Environmental Science, from Toronto Metropolitan University. Her academic journey was marked by a strong passion for sustainability management, with a particular focus on water and carbon management. This passion was cultivated through her extensive undergraduate academic research and internship experience.

Her interest in sustainability management began with a hands-on field research project, where she conducted a comprehensive Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) analysis of the Don and Rouge rivers. This project broadened her understanding of water quality dynamics and underscored the importance of developing effective conservation strategies and policies to contribute to the maintenance of these vital aquatic ecosystems.

Building on this foundation, Alexis collaborated with her professor on an undergraduate thesis that explored the use of electromagnetic fields to introduce oxygen into anaerobic environments. The study focused on enhancing carbon degradation and reducing methane production. This research not only strengthened her technical skills but also deepened her interest in decarbonization strategies. Alexis's work highlighted innovative solutions for mitigating carbon emissions and reinforced her commitment to a career focused on sustainability and environmental impact. Her passion for decarbonization continues to drive her efforts to explore and implement effective carbon reduction strategies across various environmental sectors

During her summer internship at the Climate Friendly Travel Club, Alexis was dedicated to enhancing sustainable travel practices. She combined her expertise in research, reporting, and strategic marketing to promote sustainability within the travel industry. Her efforts focused on encouraging people to travel more sustainably, aiming to help the least developed countries and small island states so that local communities could benefit directly from tourism. By utilizing AI to streamline and enrich research processes, Alexis merged her passion for sustainability with innovative technology.

In her spare time, Alexis enjoys reading books, exploring local thrift stores, and capturing moments with her film camera. With a love for the outdoors, she embraces every opportunity to be outside and immerse herself in the peace of nature
