Intro to Coached Swim
The UTM Intro to Coached Swim program is for individuals seeking a gym alternative for fitness, those training for triathlons, and competitive swimming training who might have limited coached environment experience. The program is designed to enhance competitive swimming abilities, stroke techniques, and personal fitness.
This program will introduce the structure of a coached swim and provide a challenging workout for those new to the coached environment. Participants must be able to swim a minimum of 25m and be comfortable in deep water.
Join us every Monday and Wednesday from 7:15 AM to 8:15 AM

Who We Are
The UTM Coached Swim is a program for individuals seeking a gym alternative for fitness, focusing on training for triathlons and competitive swimming. The program is designed to enhance competitive swimming abilities, stroke techniques and personal fitness. Team spirit is encouraged through the occasional organization of social events and regular participation.
The program is being introduced to all RAWC Members as part of their membership.
Coaches
Our dedicated coaches have an extensive background in competitive swimming and previous coaching experience. The coaches plan and provide workouts, as well as assist with individual swimming needs.
The Program
Participants are welcome to come to as many or as few scheduled swims as they chose. Swims include structured workouts and feedback from coaches. The swim schedule is as follows:
Days | Time* |
---|---|
Tuesdays | 8:15 - 9:45pm |
Thursdays | 8:15 - 9:45pm |
Sundays | 10:00 - 11:30 am |
*Additional times will be added in the near future, as we build the program.
Workouts will range from high-intensity interval training to endurance training. Coaches create workouts that will help meet swimmers’ individual and collective needs. Some swimming ability and knowledge of how to do a swim workout, including pace times, are expected.
Check-in at the Welcome Desk no later than 5 minutes prior to the start of the swim to guarantee your reserved spot. After this time your spot may be released to someone on standby.
Masters Swimming Ontario
Members of our program have the opportunity to become registered members of Masters Swimming Ontario (MSO), which enables swimmers to participate in sanctioned Masters Swim Meets throughout the world. A Top 10 list for Ontario is produced each year by MSO, where swimmers are listed in their age groups with their best times for the year in each event they have swum. For more information on MSO, please visit their website at http://www.mastersswimmingontario.ca/.
