Urgent care can be accessed in emergency rooms of our local hospitals.

Many of these resources can be accessed 24 hours per day and 7 days of the week.

  • Good2Talk - Ontario's Post-Secondary Student Helpline

    A free, completely confidential and anonymous service that offers students professional counselling, mental health information and connections to local resources. The service is available 24/7 365 days per year in both English and French.
     
  • Telus Health Student Support

    Telus Health Student Support (THSS) provides University of Toronto students with immediate and/or ongoing confidential, 24-hour support for any school, health, or general life concern at no cost to students. You can call or chat with a counsellor directly from your phone whenever, wherever you are for a range of concerns.

    Offers, anonymous and confidential professional counselling, referrals and information through technologically-based communications media to youth under the age of 20.

    Provides crisis intervention to adults living in the City of Toronto who experience mental health problems.

    Offers 24-hour crisis line, online chat, and in-person counselling and support, referrals, information about sexual abuse and assault.
     
  • Lesbian Gay Bi Trans Youth Line

    Offers a toll-free Ontario-wide peer-support phone line (and TTY) for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, 2-spirited, queer and questioning young people. Sunday - Friday (4:00pm - 9:30pm).
     
  • Victim Services of Peel

    Offers 24-hour immediate crisis intervention to persons victimized by crime or tragic circumstances in the Peel community.
     
  • Distress Centres of Toronto

    Confidential support and referrals provided by volunteers 24 hours a day. Interpreters for callers in crisis are available in 151 languages. TTY service available for the hearing impaired.
     
  • Crisis Support Peel Dufferin

    This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Trillium Health Partners has a Crisis Intervention Team supporting both the Credit Valley Hospital and Mississauga Hospital locations. This team provides clinical assessment, intervention and referrals to community resources to people who are experiencing a mental health crisis and/or issues with addictions. 

The Crisis Intervention Team is staffed by a skilled Social Worker or Nurse and works closely with the Emergency Department and the Mental Health Program

The Crisis Intervention Teams are not able to provide counselling or give advice over the phone.
