Decisions

Response Time

Petitions are reviewed only when they are submitted in full and can take 8 weeks or more to be resolved. There may be delays for the following reasons:

  • the timeliness of your submission
  • your supporting documents are incomplete or insufficient
  • we require time to consult with academic departments
  • we are unable to reach you for clarification or additional information

Please do not send multiple tickets to AskRegistrar about a pending petition as it can cause further delays; petitions are processed in order of receipt and once a decision is made, a copy will be sent to your U of T email.

Appeals

Students who do not agree with the petition decision and have strong grounds to request an exemption may consider submitting an appeal. Appeals will require presentation of new or additional information to help strengthen your case. Prior to submitting an appeal, we encourage you to speak with an Academic Advisor in the Office of the Registrar, through AskRegistrar.
