Graduating students who have excelled academically will earn an additional notation on both their transcript, and University of Toronto diploma. Students who graduate with a Cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above will graduate with high distinction. Students who graduate with a Cumulative GPA of 3.20 to 3.49 will graduate with distinction.
Graduation Awards - Automatic Consideration
- Outstanding Program Performance Award: Students are nominated by their department, and must be registered as full-time for the full academic year of the award.
- Founders Gold Medal is awarded to an outstanding graduating student. Personal qualities are considered along with excellence in academic achievement. A nomination is submitted by the unit head, which includes details of the student’s contribution to student life at UTM as well as academic merit. Students chosen for the Founders Gold Medal may not receive an E.A. Robinson Medal or an Outstanding Program Performance Award.
- E.A. Robinson Medals: One medal awarded to the top graduating students in each of the following categories: part-time studies; humanities; sciences; social sciences. A nomination is submitted by the unit head, which includes details of the student’s academic merit and any outstanding achievements. Students chosen for the E.A. Robinson Medal may not receive the Founders Gold Medal or an Outstanding Program Performance Award.
- Governor General's Silver Medal Nominees are selected from the top graduating students. Award winners are selected from a University-wide pool of nominations and are determined by a selection committee from Admissions and Awards. All nominees receive a certificate in recognition of their achievement.
