About the Research Prizes

The UTM Annual Research Prizes were established in 2016 by the Office of the Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation and UTM’s Research Council to recognize outstanding contributions of early career researchers and scholars in the Humanities, Sciences and Social Sciences.

This year, we're pleased to celebrate the following recipients: 

 

Research Prize in the Humanities

Professor Nilanjan Das from the Department of Philosophy was selected for his contributions to the fields of epistemology and Sanskrit philosophy.
 
 

Research Prize in the Sciences

Professor Nicole Novroski from the Department of Anthropology, Forensic Science Program, was selected for her contributions to the advancement of forensic DNA typing and analysis using novel biological and instrumentation approaches 

 

Research Prize in the Social Sciences

Professor Menaka Philips from the Department of Political Science was selected for her contributions to the study of a range of issues in historical and contemporary political thought, especially in the politics of interpretation.
