Ongoing: W.G. Davis Building Renovation of Loading Dock Area (Level 0)

As part of the New Science Building Project, the General Contractor will be renovating the Loading Dock Area located in W.G. Davis Building, Level 0.

This renovation will include demolition and construction (expansion) of the Loading Dock area.

This work has been already started and will be completed by October 2024.

Notice of Schreiberwood Residence Townhouse Complex G Demolition, starting the week of April 29, 2024

Demolition work will be taking place in a select area of Schreiberwood Residence Townhouses (Complex G) and is anticipated to begin the week of April 29, 2024.  This work is needed as part of the preparation for the construction of the highly-awaited New Student Residence.

Stage 2 Municipal Roadwork: Burnhamthorpe Road West Bridge Retrofit, starting April 29, 2024

We are sharing a message from the City of Mississauga about the next stage of continuing roadwork near campus that may impact your commute to campus due to lane reductions.  

 

As always, we encourage our community to consider sustainable ways to get to campus such as public transit to reduce the volume of single-passenger vehicle use to campus and to review detour routes if recommended by the City during the project.

UPDATE: Notice of Outer Circle Lane reduction at the HMALC Layby Closure, starting June 17, 2024

The tunnel remediation by the HMALC is currently in progress.  In order to facilitate equipment on site to complete the excavation, the southbound lane width will be reduced partially from June 17th until the completion of the project on August 16th.  Construction barriers are currently in place while two lanes will remain open to traffic during this period.

 

The Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre (HMALC) Layby/Drop off Lane will remain closed during this period

UPDATE: Construction Notice of Municipal work on Dundas Street West, starting June 17, 2024

Notice of W.G. Davis Building Loading Dock Asphalt paving and Dock Closure, starting June 21, 2024

As part of the New Science Building Project and the renovation of the Loading Dock Area located in W.G. Davis Building, Level 0, the General Contractor will be paving the asphalt in the exterior area of the Davis Loading Dock.

This renovation includes noisy and vibration-generating activity and will have periods where the Davis Loading Dock is closed to deliveries and use.

UPDATE: Notification of Drilling in W.G. Davis Building L Block, Level 2 & 3, continuing from June 26 to July 5, 2024

UPDATE: please note the updated dates as this structural and drilling work for Spigel Hall and Commissary Kitchen project continues into the first week of July 2024.

The Davis Spigel Hall and Commissary Kitchen Renovation is currently in progress.  In order to facilitate routing of HVAC ducts, structural work has to be completed in a local area on level 2 and 3 of W.G. Davis ‘L’ block.  This requires drilling into the concrete structure to install reinforcing steel.

Please note that the pedestrian tunnel connecting W.G. Davis Building to Innovation Complex will be offline on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

Notice of Off-Hours HVAC Service Interruption in W.G. Davis Building, JKL Block, starting Tuesday, July 2, 2024

An interruption to the ventilation and cooling system in the W.G. Davis Building, JKL Block is scheduled to take place on July 2, 3 & 4 (from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM).

This work is required to tie-in new HVAC ductwork from the Air handling units AHUL2 & AHU-L3 in the JKL block penthouse.  This work is part of the Air handling Unit (AHU-L3 & AHU-L2) Replacement project.

Notice of Aerial Boom Lift at Maanjiwe nendamowinan starting on Monday, July 8, 2024

Starting Monday, July 8th to Friday July 12th, 2024 an aerial boom needed to perform building repairs will be positioned at the side of Maanjiwe nendamowinan (MN), next to Deerfield Hall (DH), facing the Campus Green sports field.

Access to and from Deerfield Hall (DH) and MN along the side of the building will be restricted with barriers, caution tape and signage.

Notice of W.G. Davis Building (JKL Block) and RAWC Electrical Service Interruption on Saturday, July 13, 2024

A planned electrical power shutdown will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2024 in W.G. Davis Building (JKL Block) and the Recreation, Athletics and Wellness Centre (RAWC).   Refer to the attached floor plans for area of Impact.
