Celebrating an outstanding Art History researcher
DATE: Wednesday, January 30, 2019
TIME: 3-5 PM
PLACE: Faculty Club
A reception with refreshments will follow Professor Levy's talk: "Tokyo to Buenos Aires: Readers of Heinrich Wolfflin's Principles of Art History (1915-now)."
Studies abound of the worldwide reception of classics of world literature. But what about those foundational texts of the modern humanities disciplines that have been on the shelves of scholars for over one hundred years? This talk charts a research project about he global reception of the Swiss art historian Heinrich Wölfflin's Principles of Art History: The Problem of the Development of Style in Early Modern Art, a foundational and controversial work of art history.
All are welcome. Please see attached poster, and spread the word to other potentially interested attendees.
