Services we Offer
 

We deliver mail between departments

  • We deliver mail across campus daily, from Monday-Friday
  • We pick up mail from designated departmental offices and bring it to the UTM Mail Room to process
  • Once the On-Campus mail is processed it will then be delivered to the designated departmental office by the following business day

*This service is provided at no charge to your department

We can help with large mail outs (5,000+ pieces)

  • The UTM Mail Room will do their best to accommodate any Large Mail-Outs (5,000 pieces or more) that your department may have within 1 business day of receiving the Mail-Out information
  • In order for the UTM Mail Room to make the necessary arrangements to accommodate any deadlines you may have, please provide the information regarding the Mail-Out with as much advance notice as possible via email at mail.utm@utoronto.ca or by phone at (905) 569-5791

We can help with courier delivery (department use only)

  • The shipping and receiving of envelopes, parcels, and freight through a Courier Service (excluding shipments sent C.O.D.) can be arranged through the UTM Stores/Shipping and Receiving Department by calling (905) 828-5277 
  • The UTM Stores/Shipping and Receiving Department Hours of Operation are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm (excluding Statutory and University of Toronto designated holidays).

We pick up mail from departments to be mailed off- campus

  • We pick up mail from designated departmental mail rooms and bring it to the UTM Mail Room to process
  • Mail that is going off-campus will be processed each business day
  • We will apply the required postage to each letter or parcel and charge the department's mail account
  • Off-campus mail is then picked up by Canada Post the following weekday.
  • Departmental mail account balances are tracked through departmental FIS reports. 

Canada Post delivery standards:

Local: up to 2 business days
Regional: 3-5 business days
National: 4-9 business days

*International mail delivery times vary by country.  For all international mail, please be sure to complete and affix a Customs Form that can be found on the Canada Post website here before sending it to the UTM Mail Room for delivery.

We deliver between St. George Campus & UTM

  • Mail for the University of Toronto downtown campus is picked up from designated departmental offices and brought to the UTM Mail Room for processing each business day
  • Deliveries from the UTM Mail Room to the St. George Mail Room are made by the following business day

*All Inter-Campus Deliveries are made by Hemingway Delivers.

*Any mail for delivery to the downtown campus is picked up each business day at 9:30am from the UTM Mail Room.  

Deliveries to the downtown campus are made to 4 area blocks (called Groups).  Departmental deliveries to an area within any of the Groups are provided at no charge to your department.

Letters / Lettermail

  • Any mail that is contained in an envelope
  • There are 2 size categories of envelopes
    • Regular Envelopes
      • ​Maximum Dimensions (as posted on the Canada Post website)
        • ​Length: 24.5 cm or 9.65 in
        • Width: 15.6 cm or 6.14 in
        • Height: .5 cm or .2 in
    • Large Envelopes 
      • ​Maximum Dimensions (as posted on the Canada Post website)
        • ​Length: 38 cm or 14.96 in
        • Width: 27 cm or 10.62 in
        • Height: 2 cm or .79 in

 

Please Note: the Maximum Weight for LettermailTM is 500g (1.1lbs), if it weighs more than 500g (1.1lbs) it will be considered a Parcel

Regular Parcels

  • A Regular Parcel (as posted on the Canada Post website) refers to any LettermailTM that weighs more than 500g (1.1lbs)
  • Any package that weighs up to 30kg (66lbs) and has the following minimum and maximum dimensions:
    • ​Length: 2m or 78.74 in
    • Length + Girth: 3m or 118.11 in

Please Note: any Parcel that exceeds the maximum size or height must be shipped using a Courier Service. If this is the case, please email Matthew Malcolm at matthew.malcolm@utoronto.ca; he will be able to support you through the process of domestic or international shipping requirements and any paperwork you may need to fill out.

There is a Canada Post Mailbox located in front of the main entrance of the William G. Davis building, off Inner Circle Road.

Postage Rates

Rates for LettermailTM can be found on the Canada Post postage rates webpage. You can purchase domestic stamps at the UTM Mail Room.

Rates for Regular Parcels can be found by using the Rate Calculator at the Canada Post website.

Address for incoming / outgoing mail

  • All incoming and outgoing mail for departmental locations on campus should include the following delivery address or return address:

               Department Name, ATTN: U of T Mississauga Contact Name

Does the UTM Mail Room sell stamps

  • Unfortunately we are unable to sell stamps
  • You may find the most convenient Canada Post location for you, here

What if I have the correct postage, already?

  • Any outgoing mail that already contains the correct postage can be dropped off in the UTM Canada Post mailbox
