Hello 👋 I'm Malou! I have been assisting students with disabilities for the past 10 years as a Career Counsellor at UTM. Before coming to UTM I helped people of all ages with disabilities re-enter and succeed in the workplace. My commitment to this work comes from my own lived experience as a person with a disability. Being a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) gives me skills to work students with multiple needs including mental health concerns.
With compassion and expertise, together we can brainstorm and research career goals that fit you; find ways to gain experience that will work with any barriers you may be facing; and help you plan for further education options after you graduate. I also help students navigate their transitions to the working world and advise on disclosure and accommodations issues. If you’d like to make an appointment to talk, there are two ways:
- If you’re registered with Accessibility Services, call or ask the front desk (905) 569-4699 DV 2037B to book a virtual appointment with me. If you’re with Accessibility but prefer in person, call the Career Centre directly (905) 828-5451 DV 3094.
- If you’re not registered with Accessibility Services call the Career Centre directly (905) 828-5451 DV 3094 and let them know you want an appointment with me, either in-person or virtually.
If you’d like to find out more from me directly about how I might be able to help, don’t hesitate to reach out by email: malou.twynam@utoronto.ca
There is no pressure to talk about the specifics of your disability if its not relevant to your concerns. Whatever you’d like to talk about I’m here for you!
