Director's Welcome
Welcome to the Institute for Management & Innovation (IMI).
IMI’s mission is to constantly transform thinking to solve the hardest problems facing people, their communities and societies globally. Founded in 2013, today IMI is at the forefront of research, education and engagement related to management and innovation studies. Our work includes asking – and answering – vexing questions about the implications and possibilities associated with technological change, sustainable development, community health and wellbeing and prosperity.
IMI’s world class scholars, recognized internationally as amongst the top in their field, continue to grow their research efforts in the fields of accounting, entrepreneurship, management, strategy, sustainability, urban innovation and more.
We are the centre of professional graduate programs and executive education at UTM. Additionally, IMI leads the university’s undergraduate minor in Business, Science and Entrepreneurship, the ICUBE incubator, the BigDataAIHub and the UTM Mobility Network. Collectively, IMI is home to more than 500 students each year. Students thrive in our experiential learning environment, bolstered by powerful partnerships, our culture and values, and our connections within the University of Toronto ecosystem. Furthermore, we are proud to have a network of alumni that continue to engage and support our programs and our students.
At IMI, we value inclusivity and diversity of people, thought and experience. Throughout the Institute, we inspire transformational thinking and collaboration, integrating people, place and purpose. Our students, staff, faculty and researchers come together to build leaders and knowledge that harness innovation and apply it in ways that create a positive impact for people and communities everywhere.
Welcome to IMI.
