What is a Living Learning Community?

At UTM, we offer students in residence the opportunity to live in our Living Learning Communities (LLC) to enrich their residence experience. In each LLC, students live with other students who share similar interests & area of study and are enrolled in at least one course together. Students will have access to an upper year student (LLC Program Facilitator) who will support them during their time in residence and provide exclusive opportunities throughout the year.

When a student lives in an LLC they will accomplish the following:

  • Create an academic network of peers, faculty, and campus support services
  • Identify an appropriate academic pathway based on career aspirations
  • Exhibit a growth-oriented attitude that contributes to academic resiliency
  • Outline UTM’s academic expectations and policies
  • Demonstrate effective individualized learning strategies

Exclusive opportunities only in an LLC:

  • Residence orientation luncheon for LLC students to meet other students in the LLC
  • Live-in the same community with other students taking the same course as you and/or program of study
  • Multiple field trips in the Greater Toronto Area with your professor(s) and other students in the LLC
  • Personalized workshops to help you build skills that support your transition into your academic program
  • Mentorship from an upper-year student who has completed the required course in the LLC
  • Multiple opportunities for LLC students to make lifelong friends in your program of interest,
  • End of Year Banquet
  • Co-curricular record (CCR) credit for your participation in the LLC
