When considering ways to get to and from campus, consider the sustainable transportation hierarchy.
Sustainable Transportation Hierarchy
The Sustainable Transportation Hierarchy highlights the most environmentally-friendly travel options, ranking them from the greenest—walking or wheeling—to the least sustainable—driving alone without carpooling.
See below for more information about ways to get to UTM sustainably (in order of more sustainable to less sustainable).
Biking and Scooters
BikeShare
The Sustainability Office oversees the UTM BikeShare program, allowing students to rent bicycles for up to one week free of charge. BikeShare also performs educational repairs.
E-Bikes and E-Scooters
The City of Mississauga approved a micro-mobility program in Mississauga with e-scooters and e-bikes now available throughout the city via Bird Canada or Lime. For more information, see the City of Mississauga's news release about this program.
Taking the Bus
U-Pass
The U-pass is offered by the UTMSU and allows students unlimited fare-free rides on all City of Mississauga transit buses (MiWay). For more information, visit UTM's U-Pass site.
Shuttle Bus
The UTM Shuttle Bus travels from the UTM and St. George (UTSG) campuses. Shuttle service is fare-free for currently registered UTM students with an active T-Card. For more information, visit UTM's Shuttle Bus site.
Sustainable Vehicles
Carpooling
To qualify for the Carpool Program, at least 2 UTM community members (students, faculty or staff), join together to form a carpool. They will bring one vehicle to campus at a time, therefore sharing the parking space and the cost of the parking permit. For more information, visit UTM's Parking site.
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
UTM Parking & Transportation Services is proud to support services for a greener future by providing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on campus for your convenience. There are 12 dedicated spaces located in the lower level of Parking Deck P8. For more information, visit UTM's Parking site.
Zipcar
Zipcar is a car-sharing service that allows members to rent vehicles by the hour or for the day. Zipcar memberships include insurance, gas and maintenance in the rental cost. For more information, visit UTM's Parking site.
