Summer Leadership Positions
Eagle Connect, Squad Leader
The EagleConnect Squad Leader plays a key role in supporting the successful transition of new students to UTM. Squad Leaders are responsible for leading EagleConnect programming, which includes planning, enhancing, and delivering engaging weekly content for first-year students. They oversee and foster communities of new students, providing support in both individual and group settings and facilitating meaningful connections within the student community.
Orientation Leader
The Orientation Leader will collaborate with two other leaders to design, plan, and implement the New Student Orientation program for summer and fall 2025. Each team member will be responsible for setting and achieving specific goals, creating activities, and contributing to the overall success of UTM’s new student transition programming. This position collaborates with various campus partners, external and internal stakeholders, students, faculty and staff at UTM.
Summer, Fall & Winter Leadership Positions
Team Lead, Access
The Team Lead of Access Programs, you will work in collaboration with a diverse team with a focus on dismantling access barriers to education. Working closely with internal and external partners, the role centers on developing and implementing initiatives that address systemic challenges faced by historically underserved communities. Through community partnerships, the team supports a variety of students from multiple lived experiences and backgrounds in navigating educational pathways, ensuring inclusive programming, and fostering growth in initiatives like SEE @ UTM and Bridging Pathways Mentorship Program, and Access days.
Team Lead, CCR
The Team Lead, Co-Curricular Record oversees the growth and sustainability of UTM’s Co-Curricular Record (CCR). They are responsible for supporting the visibility of UTM’s CCR through the development of promotional and marketing plans that educate current students on the purpose and value of CCR to the student experience. They meet with student groups, staff and faculty to support the creation of new CCR submissions and ensure that newly added CCR opportunities offer skill development and reflection to UTM students. They are responsible for developing materials, processes and training that support current opportunities and users of the CCR. Further, the Team Lead, Co-Curricular Record trains and leads a team of CCR Assistants throughout the Fall/Winter whose role is to support student groups in receiving CCR recognition.
Team Lead, Communications
The Team Lead, Communications is responsible for the planning and production of communication and marketing materials for the department’s various initiatives. The Team Lead oversees the CSE spotlight newsletter as well as the Centre’s various social media channels, playing a large role in ensuring the department and University brand and voice are accurately represented. Finally, the Team Lead works closely with the Digital Engagement Administrator in managing a team of assistants that create and design promotional material for the various initiatives throughout the fall/winter semester; the Team Lead plays a large role in the leadership of the team through the facilitation of training and project management.
Team Lead, Community Innovation
The Team Lead, Community Innovation is responsible for leading the implementation of CSE's short-term community innovation & civic engagement programming. This includes programs like Alternative Reading Week, Ember, Community Impact Days and more. These programs give students opportunities to learn more about themselves and how they can contribute to positive social change. The Team Lead, Community Innovation is responsible for: reviewing and updating all program resources, planning and facilitating large-scale events like Alternative Reading Week, mentoring and coaching Community Innovation Assistants to facilitate programs & support volunteers, and providing reports & recommendations to continuously improve the programs.
Team Lead, Community Mentorship
The Team Lead, Community Mentorship supports the design and delivery of mentorship programs in partnership with community organizations for youth from grades 4-12, as well as alumni mentorship programming for upper year UTM students. Team Lead, Community Mentorship will provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and management of programs with various internal and external stakeholders. The programs within the Community Mentorship portfolio include: Black Youth Mentorship, Bigs on Campus, Black Alumni Mentorship, Alumni Mentorship, Kuumba E.S.T.E.A.M. Conference, and 100 Strong Academy at UTM.
Team Lead, Community Youth Programs
Team Lead, Community Youth Programs supports the design and delivery of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) programs, as well as initiatives focused on Women and Girls in Sport in partnership with community organizations for youth in the Mississauga and surrounding community from grades 4-12. Team Lead, Community Youth Programs will provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and management of programs with various internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities of this position include curriculum and program development, volunteer and participant recruitment, developing training materials, and supporting the Summer and Fall/Winter term student teams in delivering youth programming.
Team Lead, Engagement Events
The Team Lead, Engagement Events is responsible for enhancing student engagement, supporting academic initiatives, and coordinating outreach-focused events throughout the academic year. This role involves developing, planning, and organizing events and activities aimed at enriching the student experience. Events may range from small gatherings to large-scale events and will involve collaboration with students, departments, staff, and faculty across UTM.
Team Lead, Graphic Design
The Team Lead, Graphic Design is responsible for the creative direction and design of both print and digital materials for the department’s various initiatives. Team Lead, Inclusion
The Team Lead, Inclusion Programs supports the Centre for Student Engagement's Inclusion portfolio by collaborating with student staff, campus partners, and student groups to deliver culturally relevant and affinity-based programming for historically underserved student communities. This role works to foster belonging and identity while managing projects, timelines, and program deliverables. Key responsibilities include coordinating programs like a series of Inclusion Initiatives such as Black Brilliance and Belonging series, and Excellence Orientation, leading a team to develop materials, supporting new and existing programs, and handling administrative tasks. This position requires strong project management, and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
Team Lead, LAUNCH (Fall & Winter)
The Team Lead, LAUNCH (Fall/Winter) supports the LAUNCH Program alongside a small team of Team Leads, LAUNCH. This role provides team support, assists with training and curriculum development, and supports planning and implementation of LAUNCH programming.
Team Lead, LAUNCH (Summer, Fall & Winter)
The Team Lead, LAUNCH (Summer/Fall/Winter) supports the LAUNCH Program alongside a small team of Team Leads, LAUNCH. In the summer semester, the Team Lead, LAUNCH assists the Student Engagement Coordinator, Transition Programs prepare for the LAUNCH program in the upcoming semester, including performing administrative tasks, promoting LAUNCH, providing team support, and assisting with training and curriculum development.
Team Lead, LAUNCH & PFS (Summer, Fall & Winter)
The Team Lead, Parents, Families, and Supporters (PFS) & LAUNCH supports the Parents, Families, & Supporters program in the spring/summer semester and the LAUNCH Program in the fall and winter semesters. In the summer, this role supports the planning and implementation of initiatives, mainly the Parents, Families, and Supporters Orientation. In the fall and winter semesters, this works alongside a small team of Team Leads, LAUNCH to support the LAUNCH program.
Team Lead, Leadership
The Team Lead, Leadership is responsible for helping UTM students build their leadership capacity and how to lead with intentionality and self-awareness. They support the development and project management of leadership programs including utmLEAD, the Community Leadership Development Program (CLDP) and the Collegiate Leadership Competition (CLC). They are responsible for reviewing and updating the leadership curriculum content for these programs as well as supporting the creation of further leadership programming opportunities. Also, during the Fall/Winter term, the Team Lead, Leadership trains and leads a team of Leadership Assistants who are responsible for delivering the leadership programming.
Team Lead, Mentorship
The Team Lead, Mentorship supports the project management of mentorship programming which includes team meetings, social events, and one-on-one mentorship opportunities with current undergraduate students. The Team Lead, Mentorship is responsible for reviewing and creating programming for the 2025/2026 year, which includes re-developing the program curriculum and supporting the development of the Mentorship Institute. During the Fall/Winter term, the Team Lead, Mentorship trains and leads a team of student staff in delivering mentorship programming and developing a sense of leadership on campus.
Team Lead, New Student Program Support
The Team Leader plays a pivotal role in supporting new students as they transition to and navigate their first year at UTM. This position focuses on leading key initiatives, including the EagleConnect program, program planning events, and the New Student Newsletter. The Team Leader is responsible for updating and enhancing EagleConnect content, coordinating the development of engaging newsletter materials, and planning, executing, and facilitating events that support student success. The role requires a balance of independent work and collaboration with other CSE student staff and campus partners. Additionally, the Team Leader will contribute to the creation and promotion of communication materials that ensure program visibility and student engagement.
Team Lead, Social Innovation
The Team Lead, Social Innovation is responsible for leading the implementation of CSE's Social Innovation Projects(SIP). SIP pairs small groups of student volunteers with community organizations to deliver a project the community needs over a 16-week period. The Team Lead, Social Innovation is responsible for: reviewing and updating all program resources, planning and facilitating large-scale events like SIP Kickoff and SIP Wrap-Up, mentoring and coaching SIP Assistants to support their volunteers to complete the projects, and providing reports & recommendations to continuously improve the program.
Team Lead, Student Groups & Interfaith
The Team Leader, Student Groups and Interfaith, will develop materials and content to support over 150 student groups and societies. This includes starting a new student organization, training, developing and delivering OrgLife Lead skill-development sessions, and recognition for impact on the UTM community. The Team Lead will also assist with Interfaith programming, which aims to teach students about the many faith and spirit-based supports on campus, along with opportunities to engage with students from diverse beliefs. The Team Lead will work with students to develop programming and outreach opportunities to teach the UTM community about campus faith groups and faith-related traditions.
