Community Youth Programs within the Centre for Student Engagement support outreach and access initiatives to empower youth in the community by providing immersive, hands-on educational workshops. These workshops, led by U of T faculty, staff, and student leaders, foster community engagement and bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experiences, opening doors and providing insight to post-secondary education opportunities to youth in our community through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) Initiatives.

STEAM Mentorship Academy

These opportunities enable local youth to accumulate volunteer community service hours towards their high school requirements, through the Centre for Student Engagement’s STEAM Mentorship Academy, tailored for students in grades 11-12. Participants actively engage in creating workshop content for a STEAM event hosted at the UTM campus, in collaboration with external and on-campus community partners. This not only enriches their experiences but also contributes to an understanding of the impact of giving back to their community and remaining connected. This program runs from October to March each year.

STEAM Days

UTM's STEAM Days, are one day events, for youth to inspire students, nurture innovation and creativity, encourage them to embrace fresh perspectives on STEAM fields, and challenge the limits of what's achievable. These programs are coordinated alongside the community partners who partner with the Centre for Student Engagement and are delivered from September to July each year.
