Description

This colloquium will explore the (im)mobilities of language, race, and showcase university pedagogies that cultivate linguistic justice and intercultural communicative competence. Questions that will be addressed:

1. How can language scholars use critical frameworks to theorize the academic literacy learning experiences of multilingual students?
2. How can faculty, staff, librarians, and administrators challenge dominant understandings of the mobility-language nexus and better support multilingual students?
3. What is the relationship between “small things that do big things” and “big things”[i] that require action and sustained commitment in the everyday work of university faculty, staff, librarians, and administrators?
