Overview
The ISUP Faculty Research Excellence Award recognizes ISUP faculty members’ outstanding contributions to research on teaching and learning. Priority will be given to work completed within the past 18 months.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this award, candidates must be faculty members in full-time continuing positions (i.e., Teaching or Tenure Stream) at ISUP; Limited Term Appointments (LTAs) at ISUP; or sessional instructors who have taught at ISUP for at least three terms. Anyone (faculty, staff, ISUP partner) can nominate a faculty member for this award.
Selection Criteria
Nominees for this award will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- Evidence of significant scholarly contributions to research on teaching and learning.
- Mastery of, and enthusiasm for, research on teaching and learning.
- Successful communication and dissemination of their research (e.g., journal articles, conference presentations, monographs).
- A record of inspiring students to pursue research on teaching and learning.
Note, nominees do not need to meet all criteria in order to receive the award.
Nomination Process
A nomination package must be submitted via this nomination form before January 17th of the current academic year to qualify for this award.
The nomination package must include the following:
- A detailed statement from the nominator specifying how the nominee meets the award criteria. The statement should include the following:
- A description of the faculty member’s significant research contributions from the past 18 months (300 words max.).
- A description of how these contributions align with their overall program of research (300 words max.).
- A description of the impact the research has on ISUP and the wider disciplinary community (300 words max.).
- The nominee’s updated CV.
- A shortened version of the nominee’s research dossier (10 pages max.).
- At least one letter of support from colleagues. A maximum of 2 letters will be considered.
The ISUP Awards Committee will determine the recipient, based on the criteria outlined, and announce the winner before April 30th of the current academic year.
