Notice of UTM Emergency Generator System Maintenance on Wednesday, Jan 22, 2025, 10AM-12PM (noon)

This notice is in regard to an upcoming investigative survey on the UTM Emergency Backup Power system. 

This activity will require Emergency Backup power be turned OFF so qualified technicians can carry out the investigative work required for the “CUP1 Expansion Day1: New Generator Addition project”.

In the event of inclement weather forecast, this activity will be rescheduled to the backup date listed.  

 

REASON:

To perform an investigative survey of the UTM Emergency Backup Power System. 

This activity requires CUP Emergency Generators to be turned OFF for two (02) hours so qualified technicians can carry out the investigative surveys needed to support infrastructure growth. 

 

WHEN:

Scheduled date:  Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Backup date:  Wednesday, January 29th, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

 

WHERE:

Central Utilities Plant (CUP)

 

HOW THIS WILL AFFECT YOU:

  • No user impact is anticipated, as long as UTM does not experience a power blip or power loss from Alectra
  • In the event of a loss of power from Alectra to UTM campus, the CUP Generators will not start immediately. The investigation activity will be aborted and the generators will be turned ON in 20 minutes.
  • In case of a power outage from Alectra, Emergency backup power and life safety services to the following buildings will not be immediately available:

     

    • W.G. Davis Building (DV)
    • Terrence Donnelly Health Sciences Complex (HSC)
    • Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre (HMALC)
    • Kaneff Center & Innovation Complex (KN & IC)
    • Instructional Centre (IB)
    • Deerfield Hall (DH)
    • Maanjiwe nendamowinan (MN)
    • Research Greenhouse  

 

Emergency power will be manually restored within 20 minutes for these buildings

 

  • Emergency power services in the following buildings will not be affected:
    • New Science Building
    • CCT Building

 

  • Other campus buildings not listed are not affected by this activity.
