Sarah Sharma Provides Keynote for Elsie and Marshall: Feedback #7

Elsie & Marshall: Feedback #7

ICCIT Director Sarah Sharma provided the keynote for a symposium held as part of Elsie & Marshall: Feedback #7 this past month in Seoul, South Korea. This exhibition relates the work of Canadian technology and media scholar Marshall McLuhan to the artistic practice of his mother, Elsie McLuhan.

Sharma's keynote centred on the patriarchal technologics built into the systems and devices we use every day - as well as the bro-culture utopian visions for the future these devices and their logics are a part of. The talk was followed by a lively roundtable discussion involving feminist thinkers of technology, art theorists, and contributing artists and curators of the exhibition.

Elsie & Marshall: Feedback #7 was organized by Alternative Space Loop and Sound Art Korea. You can read more about the exhibition on the Alternative Space Loop website.
