HIS498Y5 is an academic internship course for History specialists, majors, and minors entering their fourth year of their degree. (Applicants from other years may also be considered.) The minimum requirement is a 3.0 CGPA and five completed history credits.
This internship course offers students an opportunity to hone their research skills under the supervision of a faculty member, and apply these skills in work settings such as museums, archives, and historical societies. Students will develop professional skill sets as they contribute to the public understanding of history and build relationships with people working in historical fields beyond the university.
Over the past several years, students have been placed at sites such as Heritage Mississauga; the Royal Ontario Museum; Heritage Toronto; the Oakville Museum; the Holocaust Library; the Canadian Arab Institute; Peel Art Gallery, Museum, and Archives (PAMA); The Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives; the City of Mississauga; the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs; and others.
Prerequisite: 5.0 HIS credits and a CGPA of 3.0.
