The breadth and depth of research being conducted by faculty in the Department of Historical Studies is a reflection of the transdisciplinary composition of the department, which facilitates synergies between researchers in its various disciplines. Transdisciplinary areas of research strength exist in South Asia (history, religion and culture), the Middle East and Mediterranean (history, religion and culture), Gender studies (many geographic areas), Diaspora studies (Canada, North America, Europe, Asia), Post-colonial studies (South Asia, Middle East, East Asia).
