Moshe Blidstein will be a visiting professor during the academic year of 2024-25.
His research focuses on rituals and ritual discourse in the religions of the Roman Empire and in late antiquity, especially on oaths and vows, purity and defilement, sacrifices, and fire. He also works on digital approaches to these areas. Some of his recent publications include "Perpetual Fires in the Jerusalem Temple through a Mediterranean Perspective: Regularity, Eternity, Exemplarity", Journal for the Study of Judaism 55.3 (2024): 301–334; "Invoking Humans in Roman-Era Oaths: Emotional Relations and Divine Ambiguity", Numen 68.4 (2021), 382-410; and "Mapping the Discipline of Ancient Mediterranean Religion through Primary Text Co-Citation Analysis", Digital Studies / Le champ numérique 13.1 (2023).
