Notice of Crane Lift at W.G. Davis Building (5 minute Walk) on Tuesday, July 16, 2024

On Tuesday July 16th, a crane and support vehicles/equipment will be positioned at the end of the Five Minute Walk near W.G. Davis Building, main floor, as part of the Air Handling Unit (AHU L2&L3) Replacement Project.  

Using signage and fencing to ensure pedestrian safety, all exterior pedestrian traffic will be diverted to another entrance into the W.G. Davis Building - either the main entrance at Inner Circle Road or the entrance near the CCT Building.

Within the W.G. Davis Building, users will be prevented from traveling through the exit near DV2079 (leading to Meeting Place) and from DV2063 (in Research Wing).  

Signage and personnel will be in place to redirect users to other available exits.  In the event of an emergency, all exit doors can be used.

6:30 AM to 10:00 AM

Backup date: Wednesday, July 17th from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM

 

HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU:

A Crane and its support vehicles will be parked adjacent to W.G. Davis Building entrance at the end of Five Minute Walk.  This entrance will not be accessible for the duration of this construction activity.  Please plan to use an alternate entrance to W.G. Davis Building.  The nearest accessible entrances will be at the main entrance at Inner Circle Road or near the CCT Building.

Internal Pedestrian Traffic: 

Users of W.G. Davis Building, second floor occupants will not be able to use the entrance/exit doors which open on to the Five Minute Walk.  Users within W.G. Davis A Block will be restricted from exiting into this exterior work area.

External Pedestrian Traffic: 

Users of Five Minute Walk will be restricted from accessing the courtyard leading to the W.G. Davis Building entrance door.  Fencing, signage and security personnel will direct individuals to alternate entrances.

 

Personnel will be present to ensure traffic inside the building is diverted safely in case of any emergency.
