COVID-19 Journeys of Black Communities in the Greater Toronto Area

Objective

This research explores the lived experiences of Black residents in the GTA by investigating how the intersection of social, economic and cultural factors affect COVID-19 risk exposure, access to care and vaccine uptake.

Methods

The research adopts a multi-scalar and qualitative research design to examine the role of power relations in achieving global health equity, the embodiment of the COVID-19 virus in communities experiencing high levels of vulnerability, and its impacts on population wellbeing.

  1. Key informant interviews with representatives of community organizations using purposive sampling
  2. In-depth interviews will be undertaken with community members (adults,18+ of all gender identities)
