Sarah Sharma Speaks at "Healthy Cities, Healthy People" Digital Health Event

Healthy Cities, Healthy People. Exploring the digital health revolution and its impact on our communities. Women's College Hospital.

ICCIT Director Sarah Sharma will be speaking today at Healthy Cities, Healthy People 2024. Hosted by Women's College Hospital in Toronto, this event explores the potential of digital technologies to transform healthcare in meaningful ways—increasing access, enhancing patient experiences, reducing costs, accelerating information sharing, and advancing public health research.

With opening remarks from the Mayor of Toronto, Olivia Chow, the event feature six speakers with a variety of expertise on digital health. Sharma's talk, entitled Digital Selfie Care, will examine the digital capture of self-care through platforms such as TikTok. Rather than dismiss this "selfie-care" as a frivolous or individualistic practice, she suggests we treat it as a vital media form that needs to be better understood for the overall health of our communities.
