ICCIT Instructor Joshua Dittrich Publishes New Book
Joshua Dittrich, a sessional instructor at the ICCIT, has published Geosonics: Listening Through Earth's Soundscapes.
His new book bridges sound studies, media theory, and environmental media studies to explore the material and metaphorical geology of the sonic environment. Released by Bloomsbury this month, Geosonics aims to explore how listening does not take place within a pre-existing soundscape but rather inhabits mediated, mutually constitutive relationships between listeners, media, and environments.
Joshua teaches creative non-fiction and media studies within the ICCIT's Professional Writing & Communication (PWC) program. His work has previously appeared in journals such as Substance, Intermedialities, Ethnologies and New German Critique as well as the edited volume Utopia: The Avant-garde, Modernism and (Im)possible Life.
