Alternative Admissions

Students in Communications Cafe

I don't think I would have succeeded as quickly if I went into university fresh out of high school. The [Bridging] program helped me recognize that I had the potential to continue my education. It is definitely an opportunity to take advantage of!

The University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) considers applicants based on their academic background, regardless of their age. If you are interested in pursuing undergraduate programs at UTM, but do not hold the published admission requirements, you may be eligible to pursue one of our many pathways.

Through some of these pathways, the University will look to your most recent academic history as a basis-of-admission. You can review the admission requirements for our undergraduate program by visiting the Undergraduate Programs page on our website.

If you have questions, or wish to speak with someone to review your case, please contact our office at 905-828-5400.

Bridging Pathway

The UTM Bridging Pathway (UTMBP) offers mature students (at least 20 years of age) who do not meet traditional admission requirements for UTM, and who have been away from formal education for some time, the opportunity for successful direct admission to university level studies.

Part-Time Students

A part-time student is one taking less than a 60% course load in a certificate, degree, or diploma program. Most programs at U of T Mississauga enable you to complete a U of T degree on a part-time basis with a few exceptions.

Non-Degree & Visiting Students

If you are working towards an undergraduate degree and are in good standing at another accredited North American university, or if you have completed a previous degree and are looking to take some additional courses, you may wish to consider studying at UTM for the summer or the entire year.

Non-Degree Senior Citizen Student

Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada who are at least 65 years of age by the first day of the term may register at UTM as Non-Degree Senior Citizen Students.

Refugee Pathway

We understand that many refugees coming to Canada have unique situations and varied educational backgrounds. We can work with you to help them determine the best pathway that suits your academic goals.
