The Forensic Science Minor is intended for students who have a non-career interest in the discipline.

The minor program can be taken in combination with any other specialist or major program including from the Social Sciences and Humanities. This program complements degrees in criminology, sociology, geography,
political science, and any other field that intersects with the legal system.

Students will learn forensic theory and at least one applied skill set through lectures and labs.

FSC MINOR DEGREE HIGHLIGHT: Forensic Science Seminar
As a capstone course, FSC430 is intended to apply the unique interdisciplinary perspectives acquired by students enrolled in the Forensic Science Minor. This course will address key themes in forensics, and culminate in a collaborative course project, informed and shaped by these perspectives. Students can expect to work in partnerships, groups, or teams to investigate and discuss major issues, hot topics, historical events or growing bodies of knowledge that contribute to a broader understanding of forensic science and how it is relevant across many, if not all disciplines.


 

WHAT HIGH SCHOOL PREP IS NEEDED FOR THE FORENSIC SCIENCE MINOR DEGREE?   

Students will only need the courses required for entry in their intended Major. The Minor degree does not require any additional high school prerequisites.

WHAT DOES FIRST YEAR IN FORENSIC SCIENCE MINOR LOOK LIKE?

In your first year, you will take the following courses:
• FSC239Y5 Introduction to Forensic Science. A final grade of 75% is required

At least 4.0 total forensic credits are required to graduate from this program.
