The Forensic Crime Scene House

Canada's premiere forensic program wouldn't be complete without the premiere experiential simulation lab, the CSI House!

Nested in the Erindale forest on the UTM Campus, the Forensic Crime Scene House (sometimes affectionately referred to as the 'Murder House') is an integral part of the program. As a space for students to demonstrate hands on skills and techniques, the house is utilized by the third and fourth year identification (IDENT) courses, the 3D crime scene reconstruction course, external partners like the Toronto Police, and IVNVI, the student Forensic Society for their murder mystery events. In the summer, the Forensic Summer Camp stages their mini-mock investigations for investigators-in-training!

Within the house, students may be expected to develop fingerprints, enhance unknown substances with alternative light sources (like UV), test surfaces for the presence of blood or saliva, take footwear impressions, and collect evidence.

The area outside the house simulates outdoor crimes, including burials, explosions and vehicle crime scenes.

Take a Virtual Tour!

This fly-through tour was video created by professor Eugene Liscio in 2014, with the FARO Scene Video Application, and scanned with a Focus 3D using the latest Scene 5.3 targetless registration.

If you're unable to join us on our campus tour days to see our house in person, then this may be a good substitute! See more of Professor Liscio's digital reconstruction demonstrations here:   Ai2-3D Forensics Youtube Channel
