UPDATE: Notice of Outer Circle Lane reduction at the HMALC Layby Closure, starting June 17, 2024

The tunnel remediation by the HMALC is currently in progress.  In order to facilitate equipment on site to complete the excavation, the southbound lane width will be reduced partially from June 17th until the completion of the project on August 16th.  Construction barriers are currently in place while two lanes will remain open to traffic during this period.

 

The Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre (HMALC) Layby/Drop off Lane will remain closed during this period

 

On-site fencing and signage will be in place to ensure public safety; for more information about effects from this work, please review “How this will Affect You” below.

 

WHAT:         

Civil Works, Repairs to Underground Utilities Tunnel

WHERE:       

Lane reduction adjacent to the HMALC Layby/Drop off Lane construction area 

WHEN:         From June 17th – Aug 16th, 2024 

 

 

HOW THIS WILL AFFECT YOU:

 

Please refer to the attached drawing showing the area of closure.  Lane reduction when driving adjacent to the HMALC Layby construction area.

 

Alternatives: 

  • All Library related activities i.e. curb side pick-up, parking for book drop off, etc. will be temporarily moved to P9 parking lot for the duration of construction.  
  • Pedestrian drop-off areas located nearby at IB, Deerfield Hall, and HSC will remain accessible and available. 
  • Outer Circle will remain open with two-way traffic.  

 

To ensure the safety of all students and drivers, please do not stop along Outer Circle or its shoulder areas to drop off or pick up passengers as large vehicles regularly travel along this roadway. 

 

This work will be noisy and may affect the activities of individuals or groups in neighboring areas.  Please be aware if you have scheduled outdoor activities near this site on the above dates.
