Notice of W.G. Davis Building Loading Dock Asphalt paving and Dock Closure, starting June 21, 2024

As part of the New Science Building Project and the renovation of the Loading Dock Area located in W.G. Davis Building, Level 0, the General Contractor will be paving the asphalt in the exterior area of the Davis Loading Dock.

This renovation includes noisy and vibration-generating activity and will have periods where the Davis Loading Dock is closed to deliveries and use.

Preparation work is scheduled to begin on Monday June 17; actual construction activity (demolition/paving) will start on Friday June 21 until Sunday June 30, 2024

The attached drawing shows the areas under construction (yellow area).

 

 

WHEN: 

This construction work takes place starting Friday June 21 until Sunday June 30, 2024.  No deliveries or usage will take place from Friday, June 21 – Sunday, June 30.

This area will be open for usage and deliveries on Monday, July 1, 2024.

Preparation:  

Site preparation will take place from Monday, June 17 – Thursday, June 20 (low noise, low vibration activity)

Excavation:  

Excavation and removals are scheduled starting Friday, June 21 – Monday, June 24 (medium noise levels and vibration intensity)

Construction & Paving:

Starting Tuesday June 25 – Monday, June 24 - Friday June 28 (medium levels of noise; medium- high vibration levels)

Cure: 

Saturday/Sunday June 29/30, 2024 (n/a noise, n/a vibration)

DV Building – Level 0,  Loading Dock area.

WHAT: 

Demolition and paving (asphalt application) in the existing Loading Dock exterior area at W.G. Davis Building, Level 0.

REASON: 

Renovation of Davis Building Loading Dock

 

 

HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU: 

 

Noise and vibration will be generated as part of the construction activities.  Please consult https://www.utm.utoronto.ca/facilities/projects/project-updates-and-three-week-look-ahead-schedules under the box for W.G. Davis Building. 

Noise & Vibration levels during construction and paving activities will be High & High-Medium.

Obstruction of Outer Circle is not anticipated, but both drivers and pedestrians should be aware that construction-related vehicles will be entering and existing the roadway leading to the Loading Dock.  Your patience is appreciated.
