Appointment of Dany Savard as Chief Librarian at U of T Mississauga
Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that Dany Savard has accepted the position as chief librarian at U of T Mississauga’s library (UTML) for a renewable five-year term starting on 1 January 2025.
Dany has served ably as UTM’s interim chief librarian since March 2024, during which time he has, among many other things, co-chaired the campus’ digital scholarship working group, developed UTML’s new annual team-wide workplan, and led proposals to re-design UTML’s special collections space. He continues to provide thoughtful, people-first advice as a member of the principal’s senior team at UTM and of the University of Toronto Libraries’ tri-campus executive committee.
This recent work builds on Dany’s long-term success, both as deputy chief librarian and associate librarian, collections and research services, at UTM and as a leader in many roles at York University, including acting head librarian at the Leslie Frost library and director of open scholarship. At York, among other accomplishments, he worked with students, faculty, librarians, and staff to lead a university-wide educational campaign on the future of research data management.
Dany earned his honours bachelor of arts at the University of Toronto, his master’s in library and information science at Western, and his MA in public policy and administration at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Please join us in congratulating Dany on this role. Many thanks to members of the advisory committee – and to all the faculty, staff, librarians, and students who supported this search.
Best,
Larry and Alex
