Appointment of Bill Gough as Interim Vice-President, Academic and Dean

Dear Colleagues, 

 

As the Provost will announce in the Provost’s Digest this Friday, Professor Bill Gough’s interim role as Vice-Principal, Academic and Dean has been officially approved by Academic Board, extending his time here at University of Toronto Mississauga until 31 December 2025. 

 

Bill has been serving as dean of UTM since 1 November, and in this short time he has already made a positive impact on our community. It has been a pleasure to see how quickly he has settled into the position, drawing on his nearly decade-long experience as dean at UTSC to bring a steady hand to the helm of our academic operations.  

 

I am grateful for Bill’s genuine kindness, and the commitment he has shown to supporting our vital work at this campus. Since arriving here, he has engaged thoughtfully with faculty, librarians, staff, and students, demonstrating his considerate, community-focused approach to leadership. 

 

A call for nominations for the advisory committee for the appointment of UTM’s new Vice-Principal, Academic and Dean will be convened in 2025. In the meantime, I look forward to working with Bill in the coming months to achieve progress and success together over the next year.
