
Arturo’s research centers on the study of popular movements, nation-building, race and ethnicity, as well as Indigenous, Latin American, and Latinx politics. His work approaches these topics through postcolonial, decolonial, comparative, and historical methods in political theory. His book, “Imagining America: Hemispheric Nation-Building and Revolution in the New World” (forthcoming, Princeton University Press) analyzes the importance of hemispheric politics, discourses, and cultural production for the development of popular postcolonial movements throughout the Americas. Arturo’s research has appeared in the American Journal of Political Science, the American Political Science Review, Contemporary Political Theory, International Theory, Polity, Studies in Comparative International Development, and the International Journal of Political Economy.
