Cloveth Smith graduated from University of Ottawa with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Specializing in Human Resources Management and Accounting) and a Bachelor of Business Administration.  Her passion for youth development led her to complete a Master of Arts degree, focusing on youth and young adults.  She has received career/job search coach training and regularly participates in activities to strengthen her knowledge and interest in experiential and work-integrated learning.  Her diverse life experiences and exposure to different countries and cultures, has laid a strong foundation for her learning and supplements her professional journey.

Since 2009 Cloveth has worked with University of Toronto.  From 2009-2018, she worked with the Arts and Science Co-op Programs at University of Toronto Scarborough.  This allowed her to engage with employer partners from various industries and promote the skills and capabilities of students from multiple academic programs.  Her previous experience in the community employment sector, in addition to working and volunteering with other non-profit organizations, and her work in the private sector, provided her with a balanced perspective and understanding for engaging with stakeholders.

In 2018, Cloveth joined the Department of Management at University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) in the role of Relationship Manager – building on her commitment to fostering positive and effective partnerships with stakeholders, this time for business students.  In 2021, Cloveth accepted a secondment for the Director, Undergraduate Programs & Student Services position and now holds the permanent role of Director, Student Development & Work-Integrated Learning.  She works with a team in strengthening the academic and extra-curricular experience of the business students at UTM and prepares them to excel in industry.

For more than 20 years she has worked extensively in building alliances with community partners and employers from multiple industries.  With training and experience in youth/young adult programming she has worked with students and employers from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, which allows her to positively contribute to student life-skill development and building relationships with stakeholders.  Her leadership cand passion for personal and professional development of others, continues to augment these skills and experiences.
