Eszter is a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at UTM under the supervision of Professor Arsalan Kahnemuyipour. Eszter received her Ph.D. from Cornell University in 2023; her dissertation is titled "Differential Subject Marking in Kazakh." Grounded in a strong commitment to fieldwork on understudied languages, Eszter's research centers around theoretical syntactic and morphological issues, and their relationship to the semantic component of grammar. Broadly speaking, she is interested in questions related to the syntax and semantics of clausal embeddings (clausal complementation, relative clauses), case theory (with particular focus on differential case), and the ways arguments can be introduced in the verb phrase. Eszter's postdoctoral work focuses on the architecture of embedded clauses in Turkic and in other typologically similar languages spoken in Central Asia.
