First-Year Courses
All programs in Economics require at least ECO101H5(63%) and ECO102H5(63%); and MAT133Y5(63%) or (MAT135H5(50%) and MAT136H5(50%)) or an approved MAT equivalent. Specialist programs have additional requirements. Please refer to the program section for more details.
Courses taken at STG campus can also be used for Economics at UTM, and the same minimum grades apply for program entry. This includes: ECO101H1, ECO102H1, MAT133Y1, MAT135H1 and MAT136H1. Special permission is not required. Courses taken at STG will show on your academic record and transcript in the same way as UTM courses.
The last offering of ECO100Y5 was Summer 2021. As of Fall 2021, the course is no longer offered. ECO100Y5 will still be accepted for Economics program entry, completion and prerequisites.

The following STG campus courses are equivalent and can be used for Economics programs at UTM, without special permission: ECO200Y1, ECO202Y1, ECO220Y1, ECO206Y1, ECO208Y1, and ECO227Y1
Equivalent Courses at UTSG
ECO courses taken at UTSG (St. George campus) can be used for Economics at UTM, and the same minimum grades apply for program entry. Courses taken at UTSG will show on your academic record and transcript in the same way as UTM courses.
NOTE: Prerequisites may be different for UTSG courses.
First Year:
ECO101H1, ECO102H1, MAT133Y1, MAT135H1 and MAT136H1.
Special permission is not required.
Second Year:
ECO200Y1, ECO202Y1, ECO220Y1, ECO206Y1, ECO208Y1, and ECO227Y1.
Special permission is not required.
Third and Fourth Year:
ECO325H1, ECO326H1, ECO349H1, ECO365H1, ECO375H1, and ECO475H1.
An exception is required: for Economics programs, contact Economics Academic Advisor to request an exception be added to the program.
For Commerce Specialist programs, students must contact MGT Advisor at advisor.utmm@utoronto.ca to request an exception be added to the program.
Pre-requisites
Pre-requisites are strictly enforced. All pre-requisites are checked carefully by the Department and it is the student's responsibility to ensure that the proper prerequisites have been met. Students who do not meet the requirements by the enrolment deadline will be removed from ECO courses.
Co-requisites
MAT133Y5/equivalent is a co-requisite to ECO200Y5 and ECO202Y5. You must be registered in the MAT course in the same term in order to remain registered in ECO200Y5 and/or ECO202Y5 unless you have already completed the MAT co-requisite course. If you do not meet this requirement by the enrolment deadline, you will be removed from ECO courses.
Conflicting Courses
You cannot be in two places at the same time! Do not enrol in two or more courses, including lectures, tutorials, or practica, that are held at the same time. No special accommodations will be made for term work, tests or final exams.
Study Abroad or Letter of Permission (LOP)
Students wishing to take Economics courses at another post-secondary institution for Study Abroad, or requesting a Letter of Permission, for transfer credit at UTM should send the course details (course number, course name, institution) by email to the Economics Academic Advisor, at advisor.utmeconomics@utoronto.ca. Courses will be reviewed for eligibility.
Use of Credit/No Credit
UTM policy states that courses completed as Credit/No Credit (CR/NCR) cannot be used for program entry, nor for program requirements.

Winter 2020 [COVID-19]
Winter 2015 [CUPE 3902 Unit 1 strike]
