"Do we need strong Women's Studies programs today?" you might ask, and I would respond with “Do we need strong and competent women contributing at all levels of society today?” My YES to both queries is profoundly connected and the success of UTM’s Women and Gender Studies Program provides ample illustration of this view: the competence and rootedness of WGS’s graduates, their broad knowledge base and the lasting bonds of common concern linking WGS’s staff, faculty, students and alumnae is living proof that the program continually develops and transfers tools and approaches that enrich not only individual students but through them the broader community in the quest for justice and equality.
