Curriculum Review

Curriculum review is an iterative process that provides the framework to implement minor modifications to keep offerings current and competitive. This allows units to evaluate their current programs and courses to ensure alignment between program learning outcomes, course objectives, and degree level expectations. Minor modifications include:

  • adding, renaming, or retiring courses
  • changing course description
  • changing instructional hours
  • changing prerequisites, corequisites, etc.
  • adding a course experience tag to courses
  • changing mode of delivery to in-person/online/online (summer only)
  • minor program modifications which do not alter program learning outcomes

All minor modifications are governed by the Vice-Provost's University of Toronto Quality Assurance Process (UTQAP) framework, and require UTM Academic Affairs Committee (AAC) approval.

The Program & Curriculum Unit provides support to academic units implementing minor modifications at UTM by:

  • advising on the various types of minor modifications
  • providing access to and guidance for the Curriculum Management (CM) platform
  • reviewing minor modification proposals for compliance with UTQAP
  • coordinating divisional curriculum committee meetings for consultation
  • bringing forward minor modification proposals to governance
