Stephen Mac is an Adjunct Professor at the Institute for Management & Innovation and currently a Senior Manager, Market Access and Payer Evidence at Takeda Canada Inc. He has over 8 years of combined pharmaceutical and healthcare industry experience developing value propositions using health technology assessment (HTA) and health economics, and executing market access and reimbursement strategies.
Stephen completed his PhD in Health Services Research (HTA Specialization) at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto using HTA methods to support policy decision-making for infectious diseases (e.g., COVID-19, RSV, antimicrobial resistance, Lyme disease). He is an alumnus of the MBiotech program (Class of 2015) and holds a HBSc in biological chemistry.
In March 2020, Stephen co-founded the COVID-19 Modelling Collaborative with several clinicians, health economists and epidemiologists and co-developed the decision-analysis model used extensively by the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table to support provincial policy-making during the first 2 years of the pandemic. During his time as a Research Associate at the Toronto Health Economics and Technology Assessment (THETA) Collaborative, University Health Network, Stephen worked on various health economics projects with the National Advisory Committee for Immunization (NACI), World Health Organization (WHO) and Public Health Ontario.
